Keisean of the Green Bay Packers recently enjoyed a breakout season as a return man, leading the league with 1009 return yards on the season.

Prior to becoming a special teams ace, though, Keisean was an unheralded recruit out of Compton, California where he played football and ran track at Salesian High School in Los Angeles. Upon graduating high school, he decided to take his talents to Arizona Western College where he shined as a freshman putting up 5 interceptions, four pass breakups, and 36 tackles on the year. Sophomore year is when things got interesting for Keisean, though, as his head coach decided to also utilize him on special teams as he went on to average 42 yards per kickoff return with two being returned for touchdowns. Along with his success as a returner, Keisean also continued to shine as a DB posting 30 tackles with six interceptions, returning two for scores, and five pass breakups leading to him being named a second-team NJCAA All-American.

After a successful junior college career at Arizona Western, Keisean was rated as the 10th best JUCO player by ESPN and decided to continue his career at the University of South Carolina. He played sparingly his first year there, but still managed to make an impact showing a nose for the ball forcing three turnovers, including a game clinching 45-yard pick-six against Arkansas. In his senior year though, Keisean made 11 starts and led the team in pass breakups with nine while coming in fourth on the squad with 63 tackles, which led to him earning SC’s Unselfish Teammate Award and being selected to participate in the East-West Shrine game.

Keisean ran a 4.42 40-yard dash at his Pro Day but, unfortunately, would eventually go on to not be selected in the 2019 NFL Draft. He ended up signing with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he ended up leading the team with nine special teams tackles as a rookie in 2019. Keisean would then go on to play for the Raiders through 2021 primarily as a special teamer recording 38 tackles and one pass defense.

In 2022, the Green Bay Packers signed Keisean for roster depth not knowing the immeasurable impact he would end up having for their team. While Keisean was getting consistent defensive snaps for the Packers, even recording seven tackles and a forced fumble in a Week 3 victory over Tampa Bay, the team decided to start utilizing him as a return specialist. In doing so, the Packers unleashed his hidden talent on the NFL as he went on to return 35 kickoffs for 1009 yards and one touchdown, leading the league in return yards and being the only player to go above 1000 yards. Keisean finished the year with five returns of 50 yards or more and became the NFL’s leading kick returner on the year being named a First-Team member of the AP 2022 All-Pro Team.

The BrandK9 represents Keisean Nixon’s life journey to becoming who he is today. “Every Dawg Has Its Day” means no matter what a person goes through in life, if you work hard and grind for it, your day will come.
